Artificial Intelligence is changing every aspect of modern society
and industries across the world. Media sphere is also trying hard to cope with this phenomenon and majority of them
have made a way to co-exist with this new technology
miracle. Since print is the oldest media form and still believes in the
classical journalism approach, it's interesting to see how print media has
adopted itself to AI intervention.
This book is our small endeavor to explore how print media is adopting AI
in the newsroom and how AI is going to change and shape future of print media.
As the title of this book- ‘AI and the
Future of Print Media: Disruption, Adaptation, and Strategic Transformation’ suggests,
we have tried to explore every dimension of AI’s influence on print media and
its future course of action. Print has a long-established history of ink on
paper and digital era has profoundly disrupted it by algorithms, convergence
and audience behavior patterns.
The book arises out of a shared belief that despite the existential
threats of AI, print is going to survive through new forms of adaptation and
reinvention. It has a bright future in India. As the Editors of this book, we
embarked on this journey with the hope of giving new insights about print media and effect of AI in
their survival. For this purpose, we have brought together academicians,
experts and opinion makers to not only discuss the repercussions but also the
strategic advantages that AI poses today.
The chapters presented herein represent a wide range of views with
references to diverse global contexts and subject- specific areas.
This book begins
with the deep insight on strategic transformation of Print Media in AI era in the chapter by Dr. Sushil Kumar Rai, Dr. Fakira Mohan Nahak and Dr. Utsav Krishan Murari
of a capstone exploration of the role of AI in revamping news credibility,
cognitive trust and democratic discourse in the print-digital convergence,
reminding us about the relevance of media in societal fabric. Ms. Richa Singh
and Dr. Lovleen Marwaha talks about the environmental impact
of print in line with the digital
impact of AI, recommending changes
to transform sustainably. Dr. Utsav Krishan Murari and
Dr. Hemlata Parmar highlights reinvention of print media without ink and use of
AI to produce digital epoch innovations.
The book further postulates about the essentiality of
integrity and trust in the era of AI infested world. Dr. Suman Kumar Kasturi
explores the possibility of editorial standards of the print media to fight
against AI created misinformation, which is very essential and signifies ethical
considerations. Arguing on this further,
Dr. Kishan and Dr.
Gaurav Kumar talks on the importance of AI
in the verification of user-generated content in crisis citing tools that can ensure higher accuracy
in reporting. In next chapter,
Jitesh Pandey and Maheshkumar Munjale
explore the indispensable role of human editorial
judgement in print media, while critically assessing the limitations of
artificial intelligence in navigating ethical, contextual, and creative
decision-making processes amid industry disruption.

Another chapter authored by Ms. Parul Srivastava and Dr. Sadhana
Srivastava, signifies the AI contribution in personalization of the content via
apps and its importance in making loyal readers. Ms. Piu Banerjee establishes
the adaptation of editorial practice in Bengali
print journalism in the time of AI disruption and post-pandemic realities
in a regionally oriented
analysis and provides cultural as well as contextual resilience lessons. Dr.
Suresh Gaur researches the transformative capabilities of AI in the public
relations field of print media.
Dr. Purabi Bhattacharya eloquently argues in favor of human voice
despite algorithmic rule with authenticity as one of the foundations of journalistic
identity. Another important chapter is examining the impact of AI on
journalism. Ms. Harmeet Kaur Kochhar discusses the process of news creation,
emphasizing the changes in newsroom workflows and modes of audience engagement.

to pixel evolution and discusses how AI helps in the transformation and
convergence of traditional and electronic media platforms. At the last Dr. Amit
Kumar Mishra examines the dwindling subscription rates of print media in the
news landscape and suggests how print media can retain the existing
subscribers.

book with their knowledge, expertise and dedication. Their work, wisdom and
academic insights have given a balanced and forward-looking approach to the
current knowledge sphere. Their
